Save The Canso

FARS was formed to be the operating wing of the Canso PBY-5A, C-FNJE. The Society is currently coordinating the restoration of the Canso, raising funds to help rebuild the aircraft and planning to provide hangar space for FNJE and other historic aircraft. Upon completion of this restoration, FARS will organize demonstrations at airshows and community events to provide school children and the general public the opportunity to share in a part of Canada's rich history.

Catalina Group of New Zealand

This group is centred on New Zealand's only PBY-5A "Catalina" twin-engine World War Two Canso amphibious flying boat, ZK-PBY. It is currently the only air worthy PBY-5A in New Zealand. There are very few "Catalina's" left in the world.

Catalina Flying Memorial

The Catalina Flying Memorial was originally founded by members of the Seaplane Pilots Association of Australia with the original intention of buying, restoring and operating a PBY Catalina aircraft for the benefit of the Catalina Association of NSW and the Catalina Aircrew Group and of course it is supported by the Sunderland Association and the RAAF Maritime Squadrons.

The Foundation has recently acquired a Catalina aircraft as a new display for the Qantas Founders Museum. The aircraft, pictured below, is presently based near Madrid in central Spain. Volunteer engineers and others have been working towards flying the aircraft to Australia in about October. This is one of the aircraft types considered as iconic Qantas aircraft.

The PBY Catalina Foundation is a California Nonprofit Corporation designated a 501.c3 (nonprofit-education) by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Foundation began operating in September of 1992 and in 1997 was granted permanent status by the IRS. We have a worldwide network of PBY Catalina enthusiasts and are looking to include the children and grandchildren of PBY crews and the rescued. Our website has been in operation since 1997 and was up graded in 2011.

The SNA has a long time been working to build a replica of a Van Berkel WA (Water Aircraft). They started to look for drawings and signs of this Van Berkel. Meanwhile, construction has started the manufacture of the wing and the floats. We are progressing steadily and it will look really good, but it's still a lot of work.
